Beach Lifeguard courses, Surf & Sup instructor courses

Outer Reef goal is to give all surf, stand up paddle boarding coaches & Beach Lifeguards training & development who want to learn the relevant skills and knowledge to be able to Lifeguard the beaches or run surf lessons & Sup tours as an ISA-Surfing GB Level 1 surf coach.

The course consists of the ISA L1 surf instructor course plus extra modules developed by Surfing GB to follow UK & Europe laws. The ISA coaching program is the only worldwide internationals recognised award. Our courses dates for 2016

The accommodation in Wales is amazing we have teamed up with the YHA & have eco pods as well as a hostel with the highest standard & situated in a sleepy 15th century village with a castle & a right hand reef break as well as beaches breaks surrounding it, therefore the perfect location for us to run our ISA & Slsgb Lifeguarding courses.

If your not already an experienced surfer & travellers we just want to remind you of the most important things:

  • Surfing gear: board, leash, wetsuit, wax etc.
  • Pen and paper
  • (Travel insurance)

Prerequisites:

  • You will receiving your manuals as soon as you have made payment & registered
  • 2 years surfing experience 
  • Relevant surfing skills (on board type of your choice)
  • Controlled surfing in waves up to 1.5m 
  • Basic front- and backside bottom and top turns with control.
  • Life Saving Certificate can be done before or after the course 

First aid in & out of the water
The ISA (International Surfing Association) & Surfing Great Britain, will endorse your Surf Instructor qualifications. You will gain valuable work experience with huge potential of landing a job within the Surfing  & Lifeguard Industry & Outdoor Activities.

Stand up paddle boarding Pembrokeshire

Outer Reef Stand up paddle boarding & Pembrokeshire Sup Tour Venues.

Stockpole. 
This is one of Pembrokeshire’s hidden gems. 
It is situated in the Stackpole estate with over 100 acres of land. We start your Stand up paddle boarding adventure from the small quay and then paddle around toward the right hand side to reach the idyllic award winning Barafundle bay. 
Come & discover Pembrokeshire.
Our trip from Stackpole quay to Barafundle is very picturesque. On a good day you could see seals 
& porpoise playing close to the bay and even basking sharks and plenty of different birds. If you don’t see any of those there are still plenty of caves to play around in.

The Daugleddauau estuary. Pembrokeshire’s secret waterway

This beautiful and mostly hidden waterway is idea for first time SUPing. The upper reaches wind through stunning tree lined banks with numerous pills and creaks on the foreshores of which thousands of winter waders and summer mallards, Shags and cormorants come to feed. 

Starting from Lawrenny the tree lined route winds its way up to the narrow inlet of Creswell Quay. As it is mostly inaccessible with superb tranquil waters and a sense of naturalness, 

what could be better than gliding down on an SUP with just the call of wading birds and the reflection of sunlight on the still waters for company.


Manorbier beach is situated at the bottom of a lovely village on the south west coast of Pembrokeshire. 
It has a great beach and a beautiful castle, which was built around 1150 ac by the Normans. The castle has been called one of the most pleasantest place in Wales. Manorbier is a great spot with a good right hand reef break, If there are surfers in the sea, please respect the spot and the locals. When you move around the bay you get to see more beautiful little bays, which are protected by the Pembrokeshire National Park
