Non ISA/SGB courses and qualifications

The recognised qualification for Surf and Stand up paddle boarding

coaching in the UK is the ISA/SGB Surf and Sup Coach Level 1 award which allows you to seek employment at hundreds of surf schools in Britain and in all ISA nations around the world. Any coach wishing to work in the UK or accredit through ISA and Surfing GB should only attend an ISA accredited course. Any coach who is qualified through another qualification (including Academy of Surf Instructors (ASI) and Water Skills Academy (WSA)) that wishes to  support and join Surfing GB as a coach member will be required to complete the ISA Recognised Prior Learning pathway at an approximate cost of £125 (*includes 1 year ISA and SGB coach membership). Womens Surf and Stand up paddle boarding adventure weekend in Pembrokeshire

Women's Weekends This summer 2015, We our again running a adventure workshop weekends in Pembrokeshire, West Wales for females only. The course is aimed at both the complete novice and female surfers who want some education and advice on all aspects of the sport such as performance analysis and the development of specific manouvres (whilst most importantly having fun!). We would like to thank all the girls who took part in last years workshops and hope you all had as much fun taking part as we did running them. Outer Reef has been working with The National Trust for the past 15 years.

Come and have a go at Stand up Paddle boarding every Sunday at Outer Reef Surf and Sup Club.

What the sessions cost 

Whether you're new to the sport or like the sound of the warm environment - sessions are £15 per person for around 2 hours ( 10 people maximum per session)

What the sessions include

Our instructors are all fully qualified ISA Coaches and qualified lifeguards who will run you through the stages of learning how to Sup. Safety is a big factor and you will be shown good awareness of your surroundings, whilst at the same time we can guarantee you will have a great time

The stand up paddle board sessions at Stackpole include use of top of the range Star Board Paddle boards and Red paddles as well as Billabong wetsuits.

Where to meet 

We will meet at the National Trust car park in Stackpole at the Outer Reef mini bus.

What to Wear

Come to the sessions as if you were going to go for a swim with suitable bathing costumes & a towel

Can my family come and watch

Yes, there is viewing for non participants.

Stand up Paddle boarding in Pembrokeshire with Outer Reef Surf School.

We’re so lucky in Pembrokeshire as most of our coastline is a National Park and paddle boarding is one of the best ways to explore it.

On flat water, paddle boarding offers the ability to silently explore rivers, estuaries and coastlines but in the waves it enables you to catch them early and access breaks which other surfers can’t reach.

We run courses for the complete novice & train ISA sup instructor award. We the basics such as board and paddle types, foot positioning and sea safety. If you already surf, try a more advanced course covering paddle strokes, turning quickly, catching waves and board control in white water.

Just remember whilst you have all this fun it’s also developing your core fitness. Beats going to the gym any day!

Stand up paddle boarding is one of the fastest growing watersports in the world. We are one of the first schools in the UK to teach stand up paddle boarding and we are the only ISA & SLSGB training Centre in Wales. Our Sup coach Dean Gough, who is a UK Team rider & Ambassador for Star Boards & Red Paddles has been a true water man for over 30 year and travels all around the world training up Beach life guards, Surf & Sup instructors for the ISA. Twice daily sessions – Venue can change due to weather but we run our sessions all over Pembrokeshire

Morning outings start at 9:45am

Afternoon outings start at 1:45 pm

Parking at the venue, Our staff will take your details and look after your keys then show you where to go from there.

We’ll provide:

* A friendly and fully qualified ISA guide

* Wetsuit and the stand up board

* Safety Equipment

You’ll need to bring:

* Towels

* Swimwear

* Sun tan lotion

* Warm clothes to change into after the session
